The Garage

On the way to her own baby shower, seven months pregnant Bruna accidentally hits a man with her car. The tragic circumstances put everyone’s humanity in check. On one side, a young woman who believes herself to be involved in human, political and social issues, but who doesn’t want to incur the risks inherent to the vent, and, on the other, the victim, an extremely conservative, reactionary and violent man.

About the artist
Felipe Haiut was born in 1987 in Nova Friburgo, Rio de Janeiro. An actor and playwritter, he majored in Film Studies at PUC-Rio. He has written and acted in A Cozinha (The Kitchen) and A Garagem (The Garage), as part of the Nómada, a theater collective that has as artistic proposal to experiment with site-specific performances. Haiut is also one of the creators of Conexão do Bem (Good Connection), an artistic movement bringing music and theater to public hospitals in Rio de Janeiro.

About the collective
Nómada is a collective of vagamundo artistic experiments. It’s born from the meeting of Catharina Caiado, Felipe Haiut, Gunnar Borges, Julia Stockler and Saulo Arcoverde, artists who create site-specific plays and performances. With the intent of creating stories based on political and affective specificities of the site occupied by the collective at any given time, plays are built from rooms and spaces outside of the scenic box. Therefore, with each new project Nómada follows its roaming to a specific space and creates stories tailored to it. The audience, in turn, experiences complete proximity with the play, establishing an unusual audience-performance relationship, as if they’re part of the story themselves.

About the collection
The Dramaturgy Collection has, since 2012, published writing by Brazilian and international playwrights. The books help in building a memory of current theater, making a new record in the contemporary theater scene.
