Sisyphus

The actor. The actor in a place between two places. The actor on a ramp. The actor on a straight line. In this straight line, all the crossings in the world. In this world, a world of crossings. It’s about time. It’s about the awe and wonder of being alive here and now. It’s a gif. It’s a meme. It’s a videogame, and the player is stuck on the same level. It’s a country stuck on the same contradictions. It’s the eternal climb up the mountain. It’s sticks, and stones, and the end of the line. It’s the beginning of the way once more. It’s sixty crossings. There’s only a start and an end: how is the route filled? It’s a metaphor for life. It’s life itself. That’s the game. Crossings might be the great protagonist of Sisyphus. Inspired in the Greek myth of Sisyphus, the man who everyday carries his boulder up a hill only to see it roll back down and start again, the volume written by Gregorio Duvivier and Vinicius Calderoni goes from mythology to the chaotic hyperconnected world of memes and gifs, Brazil and contradictions, awe and new beginnings.

Onstage, an actor and a ramp. The actor walks from the lower end to the upper end of the ramp. At the top, he jumps down. And begins again. And again. One more time. Always like this. Next, sixty ways of crossing a same path.
