Patricia Leite: Look at the Sky, My Love

Look at the Sky, My Love is dedicated to the artwork of Patricia Leite. Edited and featuring a critical essay by curator Rodrigo Moura, the book collects the artist’s paintings from 2003 to 2018, analyzing its origins in the gestural abstraction from the 1980s and its later synthesis in her recent landscape work.

About the artist
Patricia Leite was born in 1955, in Belo Horizonte, Minas Gerais, today she lives and works in São Paulo. With a degree in Drawing and Engraving from UFMG’s Fine Arts School, she was part of Núcleo Experimental de Arte, directed by Amílcar de Castro, and taught painting in Escola Guignard. With awards from Brazilian art salons, the artist’s work is featured in the following collections: Museu de Arte da Pampulha, Belo Horizonte; Pinacoteca do Estado de São Paulo; Centro Cultural Cândido Mendes, Rio de Janeiro; Universidade Federal de Minas Gerais; Thyssen-Bornemisza Art Contemporary, Vienna. She was featured in group exhibitions such as Parques e Outros Pretextos, at Mendes Wood DM, São Paulo, 2019, Neither, Mendes Wood DM, Brussells, 2017; Aprendendo com Dorival Caymmi – Civilização Praieira, at Instituto Tomie Ohtake, São Paulo, 2016; The Circus as a Parallel Universe, Kunsthalle Wien, Vienna, 2013. Some of her individual exhibitions are Lusco-fusco (Dusk), Mendes Wood DM, New York, 2018; Olha pro Céu, Meu Amor (Look at the Sky, My Love), Mendes Wood DM, Brussells, 2017.

About the editor
Rodrigo Moura is a curator, editor and art critic from Belo Horizonte, Minas Gerais. Formerly an adjunct curator at São Paulo Museum of Art (MASP), Moura is currently the chief curator at New York’s El Museo del Barrio. For twelve years Moura was a Curator and Artistic director at Instituto Inhotim (Brumadinho) and before that, worked at Museu de Arte da Pampulha, Belo Horizonte. He has edited several books and has published articles in magazines and newspapers such as Folha de São Paulo (São Paulo, Brasil), Flash Art International (Milan, Italy), Arco Noticias (Madrid, Spain), Art Nexus (Bogota, Colombia) and Trópico (São Paulo, Brasil), among others.
