“What is your family like? I’m raised by my grandmother. I’m raised by my uncle. I have three sisters, from different mothers and fathers. I have a brother on my dad’s side, two sisters on my mom’s side. I’m an only child. I was raised by my sisters. I was raised by my neighbor. I have two fathers. I’m raised by my father. I only have one mother, who’s everything to me. I have a stepmother. I was raised by my stepsister. I have thirty siblings, all of them born in different places. I have two mothers. I don’t know which womb I came from, nor do I want to. I know, but she lives far away. I’m a chosen child. I have siblings I’ve never seen.” Ian’s mother and Suelen and Nara’s father decide to move in together having never told their children they were dating. Furious at being forced into a new family structure, the three children decide to run away together and venture into a “parentless land”. In this journey, they learn many things about themselves, the problems and surprises of the adult world and the many ways a family can be.

About the author
Luisa Arraes is an actrice. She majored in Literature at PUC-Rio. In 2011, she cowrote Queda livre (Free Fall), a play that debuted in SESC Copacabana, directed by Bernardo Jablonski and Fabiana Valor. Later, in 2016, she co-created Dependências (Dependencies) for the MicroTeatro festival. In 2018, she cocreated the movie Transe (Trance), directed by Carolina Jabor and Anne Pinheiro Guimaraes. Luisa has collaborated as a writer for many projects. Nara Suelen Ian is her first play written for the young audience.

About the collection
The Dramaturgia collection has, since 2012, published writing by Brazilian and international playwrights. The books help in building a memory of current theater, making a new record in the contemporary theater scene. In 2015, Cobogó also launched Dramaturgia Espanhola, the Spanish collection, and, in 2019, Dramaturgia Francesa, the French collection. Over 70 authors have been published, with 82 titles.
